Bus Trip to Chicago

For those that want to create their own “Footcross” to see the city and explore the many museums, a Bus Trip to Downtown Chicago has been scheduled from 9:00 AM to 4:15 p.m., Friday June 20th

To maximize the flexibility of your visit the trip will include three drop-off and pick-up locations strung along Lake Shore Drive. Of course, once you are dropped off, you can travel to other downtown attractions or between the stops by taxi, public transportation or using the free Trolleys run by the City of Chicago.

One stop will be the Museum Campus, where you will find the Field Museum, the Adler Planetarium and the Shedd Aquarium within easy walking distance of each other by beautiful Lake Michigan.

Next will be Navy Pier, which boasts a ferris wheel and other rides, restaurants, the Chicago Children's Museum (kids would happily spend all day here), boat tours on Lake Michigan and/or the Chicago River and much, much more.

The third stop will be the world-class Lincoln Park Zoo, where admission is free. In addition to viewing the exotic wildlife, you can visit the Farm-in-the-Zoo or the Family Children's Zoo. Across the street is the Notebaert Nature Museum, and it is just a short walk to the Chicago History Museum. More detailed information on these attractions will be included in your welcome packet to help you decide how to spend your day in Chicago.

If you want the fun downtown to continue, hang around and register for the Friday Night Skyline Boat Cruise on Lake Michigan. The cruise includes dinner and open bar for those of you that really want to party. Afterwards, we’ll cap the night off by ascending the John Hancock building to the 94th floor observation deck to savor a slice of Chicago’s famous Eli’s Cheesecake.

On this trip, you can have it and eat it TOO! Oh yes, if you decide to attend the Tech Sessions and pass on the Downtown Bus trip, you can of course still join us for the Boat Cruise; buses will be laid on from the hotel to the embarkation point.
